I found that one of the most creative aspects of web development and web design is actually creating your portfolio. It sounds like at first glance that something like that would be boring, unfulfilling, and not worth putting much effort into, but that is just not the case. So many creative individuals out there put a lot of effort into the place that presents the collective works that they have either created themselves or have at least put some work in for.
The question is… why? Well the short answer is to sell yourself. I don’t mean that in a sense that you are a product to be bought, but rather you are an asset, and companies, businesses, or even an every day person is your audience as a web designer, and you need to show them that you have what it takes. A mere resume only shows a written format of your work, but a portfolio website shows off your skills, presents your greatest achievements, and allows you to express yourself and your works to those interested.
So, if you’re looking for work to do, then the best starting point is to create your portfolio, and even if there is minimal works you have to show, you can create the base structure, the template, and begin small.
Until next time,
